BOOK
"Miracle, Solution and System"
"Miracle, Solution and System - Solution-focused systemic structural constellations for therapy and organisational change"
The new book by Dipl. Psych. Insa Sparrer
Constellations work is an effective way of externalising and working with problems in family and organisational life. Solution focused practice is the art of building solutions as simply as possible. Insa Sparrer combines the two, and sets out a radical yet gentle form of practice.
The pioneering work of Insa Sparrer and her partner Matthias Varga von Kibéd is highly influential in Europe, and appears here in English for the first time. She combines a rigorous presentation of systemic structural constellation and solution-focused principles with many detailed case examples.
Sparrer has thought hard and written carefully about these two fields. The result is a book to be read and studied again and again by those interested in either therapy or organisational change.
“Insa Sparrer`s wonderful new approach offers groundbreaking information that will positively change the psychotherapeutic process as well as numerous other professional contexts. It is a great pleasure to recommend this excellent resource!" - Yvonne Dolan
“At last we have an English-language version of Insa Sparrer’s extraordinarily exciting and innovative book on Structural Constellations and Solutions Focused Therapy. Insa’s inspired integration of these two approaches to working with existential and practical human dilemmas offers those of both disciplines much to ponder and incorporate into our work, as well as offering those who are unfamiliar with either a useful and inspiring introduction to a new form of working with people. I thoroughly recommend this book as a valuable contribution to the field.” - Vivian Broughton, Constellations Work Trainings UK

ARTICLES:
The SySt-Model of the Solution Focus
by Insa Sparrer
"In this article a new method is presented which allows a client to
- physically experience the parts of a solution as determined by the miracle question
- experience the perspectives of other people (groups of people)
- go through the conflict situations in an as-if-form
- enter into a dialogue with the conflict partners.
By changing perspectives, an attitude of multidirectional partiality can be experienced in one´s own body. The method of the Solution Geometric Interview, a form of Systemic Structural Constellation (SySt) , permits a change in the perspectives of the conflict partners and enhances their esteem for one another. Thus an understanding for one another is generated, or as Steve de Shazer said: we find more useful forms of misunderstanding. This method helps to initiate solutions and to discover the first steps towards the miracle."

Solution-Focused Transverbality: How to keep the Essence of the Solution-Focused Approch by extending it
by Matthias Varga von Kibéd
"As the Solution-Focused Approach of the BFTC Milwaukee School is expanding, spreading to ever new professional realms, certain essentials may be endangered in its transmission. The idea of Solution-Focused Transverbality is proposed as a concept that may be helpful both to keep the essentials in method and attitude for the Solution-Focused Approach and to expand it to, as well as transform it for, new fields of application. Tetralemma work, the Solution Geometric Interview and Systemic Structural Constellations are used to exemplify these ideas."

Conversation about Wittgenstein - Matthias Varga von Kibéd & Steve de Shazer
The opening plenary of the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association (SFBTA) featured Steve de Shazer (co-creator of Solution-Focused therapy and Matthias Varga von Kibed (a Wittgenstein scholar from the University of Munich). This 90 minute, edited discussion includes the relationship between Wittgenstein's ideas and the practices of Solution-Focused therapy. The discussion includes the Miracle Question, Scaling, the Grammer of Change, the World of the Happy and the World of the Unhappy, Wish and Will, Structure and Form in therapy and many hilarious recountings of experiences that they have each had on this path. This discussion puts us several steps closer to really understanding the Wittgenstein/Solution-Focused therapy connection.

Experiential workshop on strutural constellation work - Matthias Varga von Kibéd
In this very exciting, spontaneous workshop, Dr. von Kibed first explains "Constellation Work" and then demonstrates the method. In a manner which reveals itself to be truly systemic, he shows us that clinical work can be hidden (the client does not reveal what the issues are). Surprisingly, with no audible responses from the client, other members of the workshop respond with their bodies and emotions to what significant issues are being presented. This work appears to be almost mystical and in the words of the client "awesome".
Running time: 2 hours
Back to the future - Insoo Kim Berg & Steve de Shazer
Insoo Kim Berg, is the co-founder of the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee and a collaborator in the development of Solution-Focused Therapy. She shares this journey with her husband Steve deShazer. In this, the closing plenary of the first Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association (SFBTA) conference, she traces the history and growth of this method. The humble beginnings, who was involved, how it developed amd witnesses to its phases and changes bear testimony to her stories.
